Yes :-) Remi's review (Mar 10th 2008)

El Gallo Giro has a picture of who I assume is the owner of the restaurant hanging out with Samuel L. Jackson. That, to me, is perfection.

Same goes for the lengua tacos too; cooking cow tongue is easier said than done, and often the meat ends up feeling way too chewy. That was not the case at El Gallo Giro, where the doneness was perfect, and might very well have been the best lengua I’ve had in the Spokane area. The seasoning was also quite good, giving the meat some flavor without burning the… tongue… off… No pun intended.

The beans also deserve a special mention. Refried beans often don’t have enough salt in them, but that was not a problem here. Salted to perfection—I’m definitely a fan.

Yes :-) Joan's review (Mar 3rd 2007)

This was our first visit to the new spot. We had a late lunch here today and enjoyed some of the best Mexican food in town. The chicken in mole was wonderful-rich with great depth of flavor. I’ve never had anything like it in Spokane. The chile Colorado and tortilla soup were good as well and we will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Yes :-) Best Tamale in Town's review (May 8th 2007)

Being a California transplant, great authentic Mexican food is quite a luxury. That said, there isn’t a better tamale to be found than at El Gallo Giro. It took me back to the good days and it’s well worth going out of the way for.

Yes :-) Bryan's review (Jun 3rd 2007)

El Gallo Giro is one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever eaten in—and my experience with Mexican food dates back 30 years and includes Southern California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas and Mexico. Service is friendly, prompt and attentive. And the FOOD! They have a full menu that includes all the standards prepared with delicacy and verve. They also have great fish dishes (the Camarones Diablo are superb, there are others I haven’t tried yet), traditional fare like posole (wonderful), and clile rellenos (full flavored and textured, and made with poblanos as they should be). Even their salsas are unique and fantastic. This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the Northwest—and it’s as good as it gets anywhere. Go. Eat. Enjoy!

Yes :-) Chris's review (Oct 15th 2007)

By far the best Mexican food I’ve had in Spokane in years. Inexpensive too. A perfect place for lunch.

No :-( Janessa Todd's review (Jun 14th 2008)

Went there after it moved in. Had terrible food; could have done better at home. They were out of a key ingredient in my enchiladas and so they pretty much made it up. Everything was bland and nondescript. Perhaps they have improved but one bad experience was enough to keep us away.
