I can’t express how happy I was to actually find an open coffee joint in the Valley this morning. They are truly few and far between. Cuppa Joe’s Cafe, on University near the end of the Valley couplet, opens at 6:30. Refreshing. Especially considering most of the Valley doesn’t seem to wake until well into the morning. Trouble is, Cuppa Joe’s Cafe serves a cup of coffee so bad, I didn’t even bother taking a sip.
I won’t go into too many details since the whole production was a true shame. No eight ounce offering. Three re-steams to create enough foam. Two straws in a cappuccino. Java Trading Co. coffee. Yuck. I removed the straws, licked them clean, and that was enough for me to realize it was pretty darn awful.
On the other hand, the cinnamon knot was delicious. Like a ripped up Cinnabon baked in a muffin tin, it was sticky, fresh, and sweet. Cuppa Joe’s Cafe’s other breakfast offerings, including waffles, fresh fruit, and oatmeal, looked very tempting.

Yes :-) Christina 's review (Feb 27th 2008)
I think this is the greatest little coffee shop in town. The customer service is soo great. They know all there regulars by first name and they make sure that you are satisfied with everything. Love coming in the mornings and smelling the garilc cooking in the back. Thats a good sign that they make all there soups. They ahve great breakfast and lunch. Also I like that they have a dinner on thursday nights its called BEAT THE CLOCK. The owner makes all the dinners homemade. MY favorite is the lasagna.
