In case you haven’t noticed, I’m smitten with Conti’s Cafe. Although I haven’t made my affection official with a glowing Bean Scene report, I’ve nonetheless told everyone I know. Readers at the Talk, Taste Everything Once forums have known for weeks. It’s a cute little space in the core of downtown Spokane. And it’s the only coffee spot I’ve visited with any regularity besides the Post Falls’ Black Tie in months.

The DOMA coffee is sublime, the microfoam gets better with each visit, the couch is comfy, and the coffee gals are fantastically cool. And this week I discovered Conti’s will be serving lunch soon too. Best of all, next time you visit peek into the kitchen. You’ll see a TEO forum printout on the wall. Way beyond sweet. Though, wi-fi would make it even sweeter.

Conti’s is a new coffee shop. It’s about a block from the core of downtown. They serve DOMA coffee and a small selection of pastries. They open at 7am, which I find shocking.

The shop is smallish but very elegant and the baristas are cordial. I’ve been there a few times and I’ve noticed some inconsistency with the quality of espresso shot but that’s to be expected. Calling it a cafe implies to me that they would have a slightly wider food selection. Maybe sandwiches or something that might constitute a small lunch.

There is no wi-fi and the Spokane Hot Zone is a little on the weak side but you can get a signal. I’m a little surprised that Conti’s doesn’t provide wireless but I can get over it.

So what’s the dish?: Good Coffee, Good Service.

I ordered my usual (I like mochas), and while I waited the baristas were very nice and chatty, and I even got an extra punch on my brand new punch card because it was my first time! I didn’t taste my mocha until I was back at my car, but all I have to say is WOW. Great chocolate flavor, and the actual coffee was deliciously smooth and tasty. Actually, it’s probably the smoothest coffee I’ve tasted in a long time—I hesitate to say something like “it had a very nice finish”, but really, I was quite impressed.

So I frequent Conti’s all the time, not only for their consistently great lattes, but also because the people there are actually cool. From the edgy artwork to the cozy fireplace, Conti’s is inviting, hospitable, and delicious!
