Wow!! I’ve been to Thailand before, but no other Asian restaurant in Spokane makes you feel like you just walked off the plane in Bangkok.
The staff were all Thai, and when my girlfriend and I went there in the evening they were wearing traditional Thai costumes, with soft Thai music in the background, fresh flowers, and candle light at the table. Where else in Spokane can you get that?? (Nowhere I’ve been, that’s for sure.)
Now down to the food… We were treated to Pad Thai (they use their own home-made sauces the waitress told us), red curry, and some delightful little mini-spring rolls that we popped into our mouths while ordering a second round of those. (She really liked em’).
Wonderful experience and entree was about $10 each. pretty damned good so I’m pretty sure we’re going to switch to go there for all our Thai food in the future since no other place in Spokane really compares in food or atmosphere.

The lunch specials are perfect! You can choose a combination plate of two or three entrees with two mini egg rolls. Very few Thai restaurants do this in Spokane and when flying solo at lunch, I find myself having to choose between curry or pahd Thai. Not at Bangkok Thai! Yeah!
The chicken pahd Thai was seasoned just right, not too hot, not too mild and the chicken massaman curry was creamier than most with delightful coconut milk flavor.

Maybe I’d feel like this was more worth it if I’d paid a lunchtime price, but I thought Bangkok Thai was just okay. The food was good, but not better than Linnie’s, and Linnie’s is cheaper. I thought $10 for a bowl of soup was a bit steep, especially since my husband said that while the broth was fantastic, the actual bits of ingredients were oddly bland. I feel a bit bad for saying “No, don’t go there,” but when Linnie’s—and even to a certain degree, Thai Bamboo—is so much better, then I probably won’t bother going back.

Oh my god! Yum, yum, yum, yum! Start with the fresh rolls served with a delectable peanut sauce. Order the Tom Yum Soup: a perfect mix of warm and sour. Everything on the menu is delish and affordable. Beautiful atmosphere. No booths but comfortable tables. Elegant wait staff and soothing music and fountain. Lunch prices are phenomenal. Highly recommended!

My Bangkok Thai restaurant experience was far from noteworthy. Aside from the nice atmosphere, riverside view, and immaculate restroom facilities, there is no reason for me to return anytime soon. I decided to write a review to guide anyone who is looking for good value and great food elsewhere. Previously known as Riverview Thai, Bangkok Thai I don’t believe have changed much aside from their namesake. My Party of six each ordered a staple Thai entree from the menu. These included Tom kha gai and various curries. No, we did not order pad thai but a very deep fried array of identifiable vegetables arrived at our table after twenty minutes. Accompanying our platter of rich, heart-attack inducing munchables was a side of remarkably average Thai peanut sauce. Nearly thirty minutes later, the first of the dishes arrived. I was surprised at the relatively small servings that were placed before us. I am hardly a gluttonous person, but even a 140 lbs male such as myself needs more to satisfy my eager stomach. Well, maybe I should have ordered a few more Thai iced coffee or teas to help offset the meager portions. Aside from portioning, there was a 15 minute gap between the first few dishes that arrived at our table and the last three. While this is a minor complaint, when coupled with the uninspiring flavors and portions of the dishes we already were served, it left us with a feeling of slight dissatisfaction.
I do believe that if someone wishes to enjoy authentic, flavorful, soulful Thai cuisine, this is not the best establishment to visit. If you are just going for a nice river view, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious iced coffees then this is the place for you.
