Yes :-) Jennifer's review (Apr 30th 2006)
At first I wasn’t sure. I wasn’t sure a respectable coffee house should be serving beer and drinks. The combo seemed so outlandish. But somehow, the Cabin Coffee on Washington makes it work. And every time I visit the street level cafe up the street, the cocktails-n-coffee concept grows and grows on me. Pick up your coffee on the way to work. Stop in for a beer on your way home. How convenient!
Inside Cabin Coffee the lights are dimmed, emo music wafts through the air, and the early morning baristas wave to the regulars as they jump on the elevators. Unassuming couches and chairs are arranged for conversation and small tables line the front window for the people watchers. Like many of the java cafes featured in Spokane’s Bean Scene, all of Cabin Coffee’s beans come from free trade growers. I favor the hazelnut lattes, while Remi usually chooses the chai tea. Both hot drinks come with plenty of light, frothy foam. I often peel off the lid on my to-go cup just to take a peek at the milky meringue. Along with the usual mochas, cappuccinos, and lattes, Cabin Coffee also has baked goods from Spokane’s Sweetwater Bakery, wraps and sandwiches for lunch, and ice cream treats readily available for the 9-to-5er on the go. Don’t forget the morning newspaper on your way out the door. That I’m sure of!
Addendum: Beware the Browne’s Addition Cabin Coffee. The coffee is consistently sub par.
