Yes :-) Jennifer's review (Apr 30th 2006)
When I started Project Spokane a few weeks ago, I really did not intend to limit myself to restaurants within sight of our new condo. At least for now, it just seems to have happened that way. Chicken-n-More is one of those places that I’d always heard people rave about and always meant to visit. I mourned when the Rookery block was torn down and the restaurant was closed indefinitely. I rejoiced when the southern joint was resurrected a few month later only a block from it’s original home. So the fact that Chicken-n-More is only a skip, hop, and a jump away from home is purely accidental.
Chicken-n-More is the kind of place perfect for you and your emo friends. The plates are paper, the cups are by Dixie, and the soda comes in a cans. In every cushioned booth bottles of Western Family hot sauce and ketchup hold court with rolls of paper towels. Orders are placed up front and owner Bob Hemphill works the kitchen and the room. On the day we visited his daughter worked the front of the house while he manned the back. Chicken-n-More isn’t a see and be seen sort of place. It is a friendly, comforting joint full of regulars. As diners leave the small space, they must commit to visiting again before being allowed to leave.
But the food is the real reason to come back. I’ll admit that I haven’t consumed much fried chicken in my life, but Chicken-n-More makes the best damn fried chicken I’ve ever had. The Colonel’s got nothing. I dug my hands into a expertly seasoned, coated, and cooked breast. The skin was crispy. The meat inside was juicy, moist, and fluffy. According to Hemphill, cooking the chicken for 15 minutes at 320 is the key to success.I watched Remi lick ten chicken wings clean in about twelve minutes. He’s been on a hot wing kick lately; the guy just can’t get enough. Luckily, Chicken-n-More recently added wings to the menu. We also shared a cornmeal dipped fried catfish sandwich. I’m not a big catfish girl, but the fillet looked beautiful and would probably be delicious to catfish lovers. I plan on heading back for a rack of southern barbecue ribs and a taste of sweet potato pie. I’ve just got to try a plate of greens sometime too. Who knew the south would taste so good?

To think they were forced to move by Reugh.
Chicken-n-More is not a place you go for fancy eats. With its paper plates and rolls of paper towels on the table, it’s certainly a place where the food is prioritized over ambiance. And that is not a bad thing.
Despite its name, what you really should go for at Chicken-n-More is the catfish sandwich. I’ve never tried this southern mainstay before, but I was pleasantly surprised by its slightly earthy flavor. Simple, yet delicious. Plus it was fried—anything fried is good. I’d eat fried air if I could, as a friend of mine once said.
Anyway! They also carry hot-wings now, which is a good kicking side-dish to the catfish. The actual fried chicken I didn’t try, but I have it from good authority that that also is pretty darn good.
None of this is fast-food, so you might want to give yourself some time. It is well worth it; Chickens-n-More is a true Spokane institution.

Chicken-n-More is located on Sprague across from the Satellite Diner. What instantly endeared me to it was the address. 414 1/2 W. Sprague. My rule is: fractions=CHARMING!
Chicken-n-More is home of the best southern style food I have had since my now infamous trip to Memphis. The rib sandwich is out of this world. Chicken-n-More’s barbecue sauce is tremendous. It has a little sweetness which I really enjoyed. The bread is a standard white roll which was a treat for me as I’m usually a wheat guy.
The prices are fair. Chicken-n-More is certainly not a smoking deal but the quality more then makes up for it. If you are still hungry after you’ve finished the rib sandwich check your face as it’s hard not to get at least some sauce on that general region.
The chicken is fantastic. I usually feel the need to hibernate after eating fried food but I didn’t feel that way after Chicken-n-More’s chicken. I did want to take a nap however. So what’s the dish?: Chicken-n-More feels, smells, and tastes like the south. Make the trip and begin to understand what the south was fighting for.

Totally love the greens, and the red beans and rice! The chicken and cat fish are great, as are the little sweet potato pies. They have wings, too? Where has this food been all my life? Until I tried Chicken-N-More, I didn’t have a clue what southern food was about. My mouth is watering just thinking about the food – time to trek the 90 miles to Spokane and get my “fix”! kc

Best ribs in town! I’ve heard the chicken is wonderful, but the first time I ate there (in their old location), I had the ribs, and that’s what I’ve ordered every since…dry rubbed and real-wood smoked, they are just too good to pass up. Be sure to try the sweet potato pie, too…Yum!

it is a must to beat feet to the best darn chicken spot in Spokane! No KFC, no stores that say their chicken is the best, no no no…get the picture? Fresh fried chicken that tastes like mom herself is busy in the back. This guy has it dialed in for sure. The best chicken i have had in 20 yrs bar none. the ribs are great, the whole menu is great. Go. Eat. Get messy and wipe up with paper towels and go home stuffed. Not cheap but so worth it.

I have to be honest. I was born and raised in the south. I can tell the greens were frozen not fresh and seeing as I make my own greens, red beans and rice and fried chicken as well as the most awesome sweet potato pie I am rather spoiled. I have to say as far as southern/soul food goes, I can make far better and the taste doesn’t even compare to the price. Sorry.

I had take out order consisting of fried chicken, and ribs. Ribs ok, chicken was dry and terrible. I really wish Spokane had a great bar-b-que eatery.

Went to the other location in the valley, i think that one is called chicken-n-mo and Mo is what it’s all about. Food is great, filling, the ladies at the counter are personable, and patient with someone who wants it all! Never a bad meal. So worth it.
